Xisai Song is a doctoral student in the Anthropology Department. Her research examines the material life of medical records in Chinese hospital settings. Xisai seeks to investigate how political rationality is produced, transformed, and contested in Chinese public hospital by tracing the production, use, and circulation of medical records. Xisai is also interested in exploring whether digitalization of medical records indicates an emergent mode of governance. Born and raised in China, Xisai obtained her B.A. in Shanghai International Studies University. She received an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Stanford University.
