Anthropology Reaffirms Mission to Foster Global Understanding and Mutual Respect

The Department of 's  statement on diversity and freedom of expression:

"'s mission is to foster global understanding and mutual respect by traversing barriers of culture, language, history, and social difference.  Over the last year, such barriers have become more deeply entrenched in the U.S. and in other parts of the world, fortified by public discourses of uncommon rancor that have sought to normalize forms of prejudice and intolerance.  We, the Department of at Cornell University, reaffirm our commitment to embracing the diversity and common humanity of our students, colleagues, and research partners.  We will continue to sustain an open intellectual community that is committed to both pluralism and the freedom of expression and inquiry. Without these qualities we cannot hope to solve the most significant global challenges of the 21st century.”
