Jacqueline Cheng '25 shares her experiences majoring in anthropology as she reflects on her time at Cornell before graduation.
What inspired you to choose Anthropology as your major?
I wanted to study Anthropology to learn what it means to be human. My answer? To be human means to be kind and loving to all that inhabits the Earth.
What accomplishments/activities are you most proud of while at Cornell?
I would like to highlight the importance of self-discovery as opposed to outward accomplishments. To find oneself is, I believe, the greatest achievement anyone can make while in school. No amount of superficial success can trump the true confidence one attains through a strong sense of self.
What do you think you'll miss most about Cornell/Ithaca after graduation?
I will miss poke from Pokelava the most. I have not been able to find another poke place that does the dish quite as well. It is without a doubt the best in the world!
Do you have any advice for students new to Anthropology?
Learn, discover, grow. Do not allow fear to hold you back.
