Featured Undergraduate Major: Rabin Willford '17

Why did you major in ?

I have always been interested in social studies and history from a young age, so when I came to Cornell, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do. I really enjoyed archaeology at first, and then my interests shifted more towards cultural anthropology over time. I majored in anthropology because I loved the research it involved— seeing new places, talking to people and learning from them, reading, and writing.

What activities did you enjoy outside of the classroom?

I enjoyed playing in the Cornell Symphony Orchestra. I made a lot of friends and great memories during my time as part of the orchestra.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be heading out west in the Fall to begin the PhD program in at the University of California, San Diego.

What do you think you will miss most about Cornell after graduation?

So many things. Ithaca is my home, so it goes without saying that I will miss it a lot. I will miss the gorges and waterfalls, and my professors, friends, and family.
