Brooke Laskowsky ( and Archaeology, '20) recently presented preliminary results from her undergraduate thesis research at the Northeast Conference of Andean and Amazonian Archaeology and Ethnohistory, hosted by Brown University. The conference was November 2-3, 2019. This annual two-day conference consisted of lectures and posters about recent and ongoing archaeological, ethnographic and ethnohistorical research in the Andean and Amazonian regions of South America.
Funded by a Hirsch Scholarship and the Lewin Fund for Undergraduate Fieldwork, Brooke traveled to highland Peru in summer 2018 to participate in laboratory research on human skeletal remains from pre-Inka archaeological sites. Through the analysis of indicators of oral health, her senior honors thesis examines how dietary behaviors varied by social group and how subsistence practices changed over time.
