Congratulations, Rabin Willford ‘17. Rabin was awarded the Freedman Award for Undergraduate Research in . The Freedman Award is designed to support anthropological research either independently or in collaboration with an existing program of ethnographic or archaeological research. Rabin will use this award to support research in India next semester.
Rabin Willford is a Hunter P. Rawlings III Presidential Research Scholar conducting historical and ethnographic research in South India over his junior and senior years. He is interested in understanding colonial and postcolonial transformations in landscape and how this relates to the social memories of contemporary indigenous communities. He is participating in the Nilgiris Field Learning Center program in Spring 2016, in which he will learn and contribute to interdisciplinary research alongside the Keystone Foundation. Rabin plans to write his honors thesis in upon his return from India.
