Ding is a PhD student in socio-cultural anthropology. She is interested in critical plant studies and multispecies relations in agriculture in postsocialist societies. Her geographical foci are Vietnam and China. Before starting her training at Cornell, she earned her MA in social sciences from the University of Chicago. She also holds a BA and an MA in Chinese literature/classics from the Renmin University of China.
